Sitting under the Campbell St bridge at River Rd in Tucson. This gives you a better feel for just how many bats are roosting here. About a half hour before sunset these bats start coming alive by dropping down from their roosts, as seen in the previous photo. They come out in 3 major waves, a total of about 40,000 in all. Very cool to watch.

Pretty cool shot of a few of the bats that are raising their young this year under the Campbell St Bridge at River Rd here in Tucson. They stay here during the summer months to raise their babies. There are about 40,000 of these guys that sleep between the concrete slabs underneath the bridge... I've never seen anything like this.
